Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: I love all of the trees throughout the sanctuary. They help keep the animals cool during the summer and offer great shade to relax in. Nothing beats standing or sitting on the various platforms with a wolf or two just enjoying the sounds and sights of nature. The wolves enjoy looking down at what’s going on around the sanctuary, and I also love watching the wolves play or interact with each other below me.
Favorite wolf and why: It really is hard to choose a favorite wolf because of the fact that they are so different. It definitely makes interacting with each one of them interesting. One wolf that I always look forward to spending some time with is Sara, the cute little red wolf. The reason why I enjoy her company is because when I first began coming to the sanctuary, she would not even let me touch her. Each time I came to visit, she would come up closer and closer to me, until one day she let me touch her head. Now, she comes up to me with no reluctance. I enjoy spending time sitting next to her and stroking her soft fur.
Your role here: When I come to the sanctuary, I make sure to spend the first half hour or so greeting most of the wolves. They would definitely let you know when they are not impressed if you get straight to work without telling them hi.
On most of my visits, I assist with cleaning enclosures, washing bowls, moving wolves from enclosure to enclosure, and whatever other odd jobs and tasks I am capable of doing.
What being part of this unique mission means to you: I don’t know when it began, but for as long as I remember, I have always been fascinated by wolves. They are beautiful creatures, and I love being a part of something which gives these animals the quality of life they deserve.
Although I cannot visit as often as I would like, I am grateful that I can contribute in some way to such a meaningful mission. I love seeing the wolves healthy and happy in their various packs.
Favorite Movie: I can't choose!
