Favorite aspect of the sanctuary: The over all tranquility of the place and the ability to interact/bond with the animals here. I love the fact that the wolves come first and are loved and cared for. The sanctuary is run with a sincere love for the wolves and not as a business. It is a much more personal experience volunteering here.
Favorite wolf and why: I would have to say either Moon or Sprit. Moon reminds me of one of my huskies; the way he is always hogging the attention and not wanting to share it with the others. Sprit is really sweet once we got by the trying to steal my shoes game. I’m sure she will win one of these days though.
Your role here: To do what I can to help the wolves. I usually help build their habitats or anything to do with construction. I’ll help out with whatever needs to be done though.
What being part of this unique mission means to you: It means being able to help animals that I care about. It means knowing I did what I could to make a positive impact on their lives. At home, I have two Siberian Huskies that I have rescued. I believe seeing first hand how rescuing effects the animals’ lives both mentally and physically that any time I have to give is the least I can do. Without people to rescue these animals they have little to no chance of having a future. This is exactly what Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary gives these animals, a future.
